Beginnings of a new era

v1.1.0

I'm happy to release the first post-7DRL version of Amrita which will lay the groundwork for exciting new features, effects, and an overall better experience. This release doesn't change the gameplay too much as is, but it does feature a lot of UI updates to improve the experience.

  • Added Mouse Support
  • Complete overhaul of UI
  • Replaced HTML based game board with a WebGL game board to allow for animations and effects.
  • Top aligned game menus, so they should appear in a better location on large screens (proper screen scaling to come later)
  • Added Tooltips for reagents to ease learning reagent effects
  • Fixed issue where you could have negative spare reagents

This should mark the start of more rapid updates and improvements from my end. Getting to v1.1.0 required replacing large parts of the application so getting back to feature parity with the 7DRL took awhile. Now that we are here, I can focus on rapidly implementing better features.

The road ahead

In terms of what's next, there's still a lot of user interaction work to do. I still have some additional improvements to make to the UI and I need to implement more animations and graphical effects to the board to better indicate what is happening during the gameplay.

But there's also exciting gameplay changes in the works; I have a design overhaul and improvement to the way potions are brewed and how they apply effects that should be both more engaging and easier to understand. So stay tuned and I look forward to sharing more updates!
